Don't forget your hat and gloves: Always wear a hat and gloves. A great deal of vital body heat is lost through the top of your head, like a chimney, and through your hands. Runners can often get by with simple moisture wicking gloves (or even socks!) in cool weather but walkers will need heavier gloves, or even heavier mittens with a wind-proof shell, since they don't generate as much body heat.
